  • Self-Deposit Station: OPEN Summer Hours
    The Self-Deposit Station is open for South Milwaukee residents with photo ID. The $3.00 per-trip fee resumes Tuesday, June 16th, and items requiring an additional fee will again be accepted.    

    • Please note:  Social distancing is in effect.  Please be patient; as we limit the number of cars in the yard to ensure safe social distances.  

Winter Hours – December 1 through March 31

Tuesday and Friday 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Closed Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
**The Self Deposit Station may be closed due to inclement weather.

Summer Hours – April 1 through November 30

Tuesday and Friday 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Closed Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

South Milwaukee residents who wish to utilize the Self-Deposit Station will be charged $3.00 per visit.

The Self-Deposit Station accepts the following items and waste for no additional charge:

  • Auto antifreeze
  • lawnmowers
  • appliances
  • leaves
  • asphalt
  • logs
  • automotive batteries
  • metal
  • branches
  • motor oil
  • bricks
  • furniture
  • mattresses and box springs
  • newspaper
  • cardboard
  • sod
  • concrete
  • stumps
  • dirt
  • garbage
  • yard waste (no green grass clippings)

Items requiring an additional disposal fee:

  • Freon Bearing Appliances $15.00 each unit (if picked up at an individuals property, not at Self-Deposit)(air conditioners, dehumidifier, freezer, refrigerator)
  • Grass clippings $1.00 per 32 gallon bag or container
  • Tires: (must be removed from rim) Size 17″ or less $3.00 each Size Larger than 17″ $7.00 each


The following items are not accepted at the Self Deposit Station:

Refrigerant Depot will pick-up appliances from our Self Deposit Station free of charge. This includes washers, dryers, stoves, microwaves, water heaters, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers and car batteries. More information can be found at:
If you require the city to pick up Freon bearing appliances curb side at your property, there is a $15.00 fee that must be pre-paid at City Hall.  

Television or Computer Monitor (CVT) Recycling:  The cost for recycling any television or computer monitor is $15.00, plus a $3.00 per visit user fee for the use of the Self-Deposit Station.  All other electronic recycling is included with the daily user fee.
